Putting 2006 FEH HV battery In service mode
I am going to replace the front end on my 2006 escape hybrid. The wheel bearings need to be replaced and the mechanic is,worried,he is going to touch something and get electricuted. Do I need to turn orange service dial on battery. And if I do, does the PCM have to be reprogrammed when I put battery back in service?

Do I have to do it to replace struts, shocks, and inner and outer tie rods, or can I just disable breaking system by taking the key out after 12 minutes and then pulling the fuses?

When you turn the key off, the hybrid battery is totally disconnected from the rest of the car. If you hear some clicks from the cargo area when you start it, that sound is the connections being made again. Others may be better informed than I am, but I see no reason to pull fuses or disconnect even the 12V battery to do front end work.

Thank you everyone for your timely replies. If I am replacing a front wheel bearing, do I then then I need to disable break system due to caliber removal? Once again thank you all how have helped educate me. Marc

Sometimes you can move the caliper out of the way without disconnecting the brake line, so you don't need to bleed the fluid. I don't know if this is possible on the Escape.

There is plenty of hose to remove the caliper and place it out of the way for the wheel bearing work. I used a piece of wire to tie mine up out of the way for front rotor removal.
