Sounds like the 2008 is a little different, and a little better in this regard.
In the 2005, and I assume 2006 & 07's as well, once you run out of gas, you can travel EXACTLY at 22
MPH max, for as long at the battery will hold out. Usually, about 2 miles. Then the car slows down like a wind-up toy running down... 18, 16, 14, 12, 10
mph, ......0.
In the 2005-2007's, there is a NOMINAL 15 gallon gas tank.
In fact, it holds 18 gallons, but there is 3 gallons of "air space" above the gas.
The air space is by design, but if you roll the car on 2 wheels, on a slope, at high tide, you can shove 18 gallons in there.
15 is the "norm" and the 0 MTE warning comes on at about 13.7gal used.
I usually can go 25 to 45 miles past zero.
