"service soon" on 06
Title pretty much says it all. It's intermittent and clears with a restart. I took it to Advance Auto today and their code reader didn't find any codes. FWIW, it is an '06 MMH with approximately 152k mi. Any ideas before I start dropping serious cash in a code reader and possible MECS pump?

Re: "service soon" on 06
Before anyone suggests it, I did a search here for "service soon" and nothing came up. Oddly, a Google search turned up this:
https://www.greenhybrid.com/discuss/...ce-soon-20766/
It's about the battery blend door. I'll keep that in mind. Also in that discussion it says that the code for that doesn't show up with many code readers and not even the scangauge. There is a way, apparently, to get the scangauge to show that there is a code, but not what it is.
So, any recommendations out there for a good code reader? That said, I'll not drop huge cash on one.
On what may be a related note, are there any particular symptoms before the MECS pump goes out? From what I read, I may be living on borrowed time with over 150k mi on the original. It does make noise, but from what I hear, the replacements make noise, too. I don't mind changing it out if it's prudent, but I also subscribe to "if it ain't broke . . ."

Hi jworth
If you have a SGII and can program X-Gauge and that's all you need. CarlD explains how to retrieve the blend door DTC with a SGII here:

My blend door has been giving me the "service soon" On and Off for 30,000 miles in my '05 FEH but until it stays On all the time I'm not changing it. You will not get a code for the MEC pump if it's not working but other overheating problems cause DTC codes. If you don't have a SGII you can get a discount on one if you join http://www.cleanmpg.com/
