The best I've come up with is:

dt 8631h = 34353d = 12/07/04
dt A6E9h = 42729d = 11/11/05

339 days elapsed = 8376 decimals elapsed

or the code advances by 24.7 decimals per day.

That is suspiciously close to hours/day... but not close enough for my taste to draw conclusions.

Mine would be 32699d, or 1654 less than your decimal code. If hours, that would be 68.9 days earlier, or October 1, 2004. The manufacture date on my pillar says 10/04.

I guess that's it. The dt number is the number of hours since what? How about 12 am on 1/1/2001? That makes some kind of sense...

I believe the dt date is a date/time of a final test and may not exactly agree with a "manufacture" date.

Jim

If we assume this is in hours, and use my build date (bottom right of window sticker) as a reference, then here would be the build dates for your vehicles.

Thursday, August 26, 2004 - My Build Date.
Monday, January 08, 2001 - Start Date assuming hours.
Wednesday, November 23, 2005 - For code A6E9
Thursday, December 09, 2004 - For code 8631
Friday, October 01, 2004 - For code 7FBB

There are a couple of things to note. December 9 conflicts with the stated December 7, and November 23, 2005 is way off of November 11. That says to me that it can't be in hours. It does seem awfully close, but that doesn't count.

So I guess it's back to the drawing board!

Hi,

Some of these may be checksums of the EEPROMs in the various processor systems. A simple checksum is done by adding all the locations in the EEPROM and only keeping the last 16 bits which gives a 4 character hexidecimal checksum. This is a quick and dirty way to find most errors or if the EEPROM contains good bad data.

And I think I remember 2004 had a leap year, but that would only shift things by one day, 24 hours.

The code does not have hour resolution, I don't think, only the nearest day.

By chance, VietVet and I have the same build date, and the same dt code.

His was #5145 off the line ( or out the parking lot ) on 12/07/04.
Mine was #5166 off the line or out the lot on 12/07/04.
Both are dt 8631.
