Does anyone know if the brake pad removal replacement procedure for the HAH is the same as the standard Accord (which is basically the same procedure for most cars). I'm just wondering if the regenerative braking widget comes in to play on this. My 2005 HAH has 55,000 miles and I just started to ocassionally hear the slight rub/squeal of the wear indicator strip...so I know it's time for a change. I've done this myself on numerous past cars (not Hondas) with great success, so I'm thinking about a do-it-yourself job here...just looking for a little confidence going forward that I'm not going to encounter some "what the heck is that?" issue due to the regenerative braking system.

I doubt anything is different with the brakes, as the regenerative braking is actually done in the IMA motor, not the actual wheels.

I'll try to flip through the repair manual tonight and let you know if there's anything unusual about the job or not.

I forgot to check on that brake job for you, until today. Yep, it's just like any other car you've probably worked on. Nothing special at all.

Out of curiosity, I checked my pads. All four are still pretty thick. I'm only about 7K miles behind you. Did you visually check the pad thickness? Maybe it's not the wear indicator and only just grime on the pads?

Thanks for the info Keith. I looked a little closer and it turns out that it's the rear that need attention soon. The front have plenty of "meat" remaining, but the rear are down to about 1/8". I was out and about today and only heard the indicator strip squeal a couple of times...not constant but intermittent. The rotors still look very good. I plan to tackle the rear one evening this week.

The genuine "made in Japan" Honda pad "kit" that I picked up from the dealership (same price as "online" plus shipping) include new shims and a tube of moly. If you don't mind, can you check the manual re: the moly and let me know...does it go on both sides of the shims and the caliper pins or just on the pins?

Installing the new rear brake pads was a piece of cake...anyone that can use a 12mm socket, 17mm open end wrench and large channel lock pliers could do it. Total $60 for OEM Nissin (Findlex) pads and about 25 minutes per wheel and she's now good as new. No squeaks, no vibrations. Compared to pad replacements that I've done on other cars, the HAH is by far the easiest and most straightforward. Hats off to bar10dah here for assistance with the details...you're the man!

At 54,600 miles, the rear outboard pads had worn to +/- 1/8" wearing surface remaining, but the inboard pads were down to about 1/16"!! Rotors still in very good condition.
