Default How much of a discount from MSRP are people getting for their HAH?

All,

I'm planning on purchasing a HAH in the Sept. - Oct. timeframe and wondering if I could get some advice on getting the best price. Because I'm under the assumption that the HAH is a hot ticket, I'm thinking that even armed with all of the dealer invoice, etc. information that I could get from edmunds.com, that there won't be much wiggle room below MSRP for me.

I'm planning on getting the model with the navigation system.

Anyone have any success at getting a HAH w/nav. system (and preferably spare tire) for more than $500 below MSRP?

Thanks for any info.,
Wes Gamble

P. S. Does anyone know if the 06 model will come out before the end of 05 or is the current one an 05-06 and the next model year won't come out until sometime in '06?

$30K, even, w/Navi (and mud guards), 3 weeks ago (although the deal was made about a month and a half ago). Also check ebay. There are always cars going there for around invoice or not much more. One dealer is auctioning the cars for invoice PLUS the bid amount, and bids have been accepted around $400 over invoice. There seem to be lots of dealers with cars in stock, although you might have to wait for the right color, especially with navigation. I suspect any shortages of these cars is a local thing, and if you are willing to travel a little, you can potentially save thousands of dollars. Traveling 200 miles saved me $5600 over what my local dealer was willing to sell for (adding to MSRP and not negotiating).

I suspect the '06 Accord body "freshening" will happen in Sept/Oct or so, along with the regular model year 06 changeover. However, that doesn't mean the Hybrids will be available at the same time, as they come from Japan. (Maybe, or maybe not).

Hi Weyus:

___As Dale B posted, there are a number of dealerships around the country selling for near Invoice on the AH. A particular LA. Dealership that sells them on E-Bay has been rumored to sell them direct with a phone call. I have seen more then once $130 under invoice for a Non-NAVI if that helps.

___Good Luck

I got mine back in April for about $500 over invoice w/Navi. At the time, I figured I was lucky to get anything below MSRP. Maybe I could have shopped around a little more and saved a few hundred dollars, but I was very happy to get any discount at all and I didn't want to spend any more time shopping. I love my HAH!!!

I bought my HAH from the aforementioned dealership in Louisiana, Holmes Honda. My Navi car w/mud guards and aftermarket window tint was $30,250.

Wes, your post doesn't say what part of the country you are from but my experience with Holmes was good and I would recommend them to others. Even if that's far away (they are in Shreveport, Louisiana) it is leverage to use with your local dealer(s) since they post their cars on eBay and you can easily document the deal. My uncle did that with a dealer here in Dallas and they reluctantly met the price.

I, too, love my HAH and I wish you good luck!

Yes, it should be eligible for the minimum $400 credit. It gets over 25% better city mpg than the comparison in its 3500 pound interia weight class (found in an EPA report).

Yes, you should. I found them to be helpful and friendly, unlike some big city dealerships. None of the Dallas-area dealerships were willing to deal much. In fact, many had the cars sold before they arrived. I could have used the Shreveport dealer as leverage, but I decided that a) I wanted to go check them out as I'd never been to Shreveport and hence the casinos there and b) I thought it appropriate to reward the dealer who is truly advertising cars for cheap instead of rewarding the dealer who meets the price only because he has to.
In the end, I'm glad I did. I hit a $50 video poker jackpot (a royal flush ) and had a first nice drive with the vehicle. If you talk to Ms. Kristi Alexander, tell her Sean from Dallas says "Howdy!"
