The smart key on the Accord Hybrid functions identically to the smart key on the EX-L, but it has a different part number. It costs well over $600 CND to get a spare key from Canadian list prices (over $300 USD from US prices if my research is correct), while the EX-L smart key is a buoy 30% of the hybrid price. Does anyone know what the technical difference is. The fob is the one with the different part number…the emergency key is the same. I'm baffled
as to what could justify such a discrepancy in prices. All I can imagine is that the hybrid fob operates on a different frequency, but nowhere can I find any technical description of this for the hybrid key.
