Default Oil questions

What kind of oil are you using in your HAH? On previous (non-Honda) cars I've used synthetic. Is it worth the extra cost on the HAH? How often are you getting your oil changed with regular oil vs synthetic oil? I noticed one user said that he was able to buy his own oil and the dealership would charge under $10 to change it. Is this common at most dealerships?

Thanks

Default Re: Oil questions

I just did my own oil change at 5K and put in Mobil 1 synthetic oil. This is my first time using a synthetic in any of my vehicles. It may be my imagination but I think the engine idles just a little smoother and quieter. It also seems to be even more effortless when accelerating. It's only been about a week since I changed it, but I like what I'm seeing so far. According to the owners manual you must follow Honda's recommended oil change intervals, even with synthetic oil, to maintain your warranty.

I've done comparisons ( milage, color etc) on a few of my cars in the past and have found the difference between regular and synthetic oils to be ** 0 **. I regularly get 250,000 - 350,000 miles on my cars ( commuting). I've never had to get rid of a car because of the engine, and all on Pep Boys Oil, changed every 7500 miles.
