Default Spare tire found!

I made a few calls to local junk yards (aka used auto parts recyclers) and found a spare from a 2004 Accord. The guys computer said it was the same as for the 2005 HAH. I picked it up yesterday and it fits perfectly. Only cost $50.00. Let your fingers do the walking and good luck.

DO be careful. I also have an 05 HAH and found a brand new spare at the bone yard,

If you notice, at least in my case, my HAH has 16 inch tires, The 05 Accord that was the spare tire donor had 15 inch tires.

This isnt a real problem UNLESS the flat occurs up front. By having one tire a different size than the other will cause undue stress on the transaxle because one wheel will actually be traveling farther than the smaller spare tire.

The way to get around this is situation is this. Make SURE the spare only goes on a back wheel. If the flat is up front, it will require u to swap the the flat to the back and the back tire to the front in order to maintain same tire sizes up front. THEN replace the flat tire on the back with the smaller spare.

Its an extra step, but I am confident it is an necessary one.

Tony

I removed the entire "flat tire repair kit", including the foam, and dropped the tire right into the well. The well is just like any other Accord, so plenty of room for the tire and jack.

Yeah, I hadn't seen a 2005 until yesterday so I was surpised that the space and even mounting hole for it existed.

If/when you do buy your HAH, if the spare tire kit is the same for the '06 as it is for the '05, there's a member on this forum who has one he'd like to sell. It comes with everything minus the actual tire. I think I paid something like $60-70 for the tire from the Honda dealer. Maybe less. I believe the kit was around $125.
