Default Re: Trailer hitch???

I did this through my dealer, but it was subbed to a local trailer place to install everything. It is NOT a Honda part, I don't know what brand of hitch it is. It was supplied by the trailer place.

I will check with local trailer places here in Atlanta. If you do have a name of the hitch used that would be good to know. Usually the manufacturers name is visible on the hitch. If you have the name of the trailer place you used I can contact them and get the information from them.

Did you get the hitch name or trailer company that installed your hitch?

I looked at the sticker this morning. No model number or anything but it does say "Towing Products" and "Plymouth Michigan" on it. Plus it shows the 2,000 lb max a few times!

A google search shows this:

Towing Products
(734) 656-3000
47774 W Anchor CT
Plymouth, MI 48170

That also happens to be the address of DrawTite! The hitch does not say Drawtite on it, but they make a huge % of the hitches in north america. My understanding is that this is simply a hitch made for an 05 Accord, not special for the hybrid.

Try www.hitch-web.com for a good selection of Accord hitches. Browsing through the choices, there are several different designs. There's also a way to get a pdf file of the instructions. One hitch, in particular, looks a little more substantial than the others by the way it attaches. (Hidden Hitch #60953). A couple of others require drilling through the bottom of the "spare tire well" and the hitch attaches there. All of the hitches seem to use the rear tow hook as one of their attachment points.

An update:

I finally finished the trailer - I bought a 4' x 6' utility Snowbear trailer and put 39" high plywood walls around it to box it in. We cover the top with a tarp. I took it fully loaded to the cottage for our holidays. The car drove like it wasn't even there. I still used the overdrive and did not find it shifting in and out between 3rd and 4th. My mileage was only slightly worse than usual, nothing major.

Cheers,

Gregg
