Default extended page load times

Is everyone experiencing these LOOOOONG load times for pages on the GH forums? I tried them in Firefox and IE and from two different locations with two different types of acces and have the same results. I think it might be the advertising slowing things down because it almost always says "ads.doubleclick.com" in the status bar at the bottom of the browser window. I think that the webmaster should take a look at this because it is sometimes to the point where I just give up and leave the site altogether. I think there is a way (in the coding) to instruct browsers to load certain content first without waiting for slower loading items but I don't recall.

I haven't experienced this myself, but it's quite possible. I'll pass the word along to CarsDirect so they may resolve the issue if possible.

Question Re: extended page load times

I haven't encountered any errors, myself. I tried in both IE and Firefox, as well. How fast is your CPU running? If this continues to be a problem for you, please let me know, but I don’t think the ads are creating any problems.

Since I've tried it on 3 different computers on two different types of connections in two different locations, I'd say its not my PC.

I don't get errors....just real long load times for forum pages.

Start with a traceroute from your machine(s) to GreenHybrid.com to map out the hops. Often you'll find which hop(s) add delay times. Then do a traceroute to a 'fast' web site. You can then eliminate all shared hops.

Walt, it is not only within threads that I see the delays so signatures and avatars aren't the problem. Pinging GH gives me much slower responses than other sites do. I ran a couple of traceroutes and here are the results....don't know what I can do about it, but it seems pretty clear where the slowdowns are.

Post Re: extended page load times

The ads are set up such that the content loads first, not the ads. We're trying different trafficking measures on our end here, to see if we can remedy this. Let me know if you experience any further issues with this.

I think you ought to check that coding, or maybe try running the site without the ads briefly to see if that helps. They are definitely slowing the loading of pages.

In addition, I noticed in the IE status bar that while the ads are loading, the message flashes a couple of times that says "a bad URL ads.doubleclick.net" before displaying "waiting for ads.doubleclick.net".

Also, in IE it is very clear that the content is NOT loading first as the top of the pages load....then there is a delay as the banner ad loads. Again, I am seeing the words "waiting for ads.doublick.net etc appear in the status bar at the bottom of the browser before the main content loads, then the sidebar ad (again with the "waiting" message in the status bar), then the bottom of the pages load.

I started using IE for this site as it has gotten unbearable in Firefox. I find the site freezing up my browser, making me unable to access other tabs that are open, unable to right click on anything to open a menu, and often freezing the whole browser to the point where I have to go into task manager and end the task.

I only have problems loading this site up in the linux version of Firefox. Windows is fine. I thinks my problem is Flash, the whole browser feels like molasses and I have to switch to a different app to get the image to refresh.
