Feature HowTo: Member Reputation
By request, a "reputation" feature has been activated in the forums. Not sure how it works? Here's how:
Each member begins with a reputation of 1. At the top right of the member's post you'll see a reputation value. If you thnk a member has made an exceptionally good/bad post, done a good/bad deed or should be commended/reprimanded in some way, click the Add/Subtract link. You'll be prompted to "approve" or "disapprove" and provide a message.
With time, posts, individual reputation and other criteria, a member will have more weight or "power" to influence the reputation of others.
This is karma, folks. Have fun!

EXCELLENT.
But shouldn't a person's 'weight' be affected by their MPG ? :-))

Re: Feature HowTo: Member Reputation
I've modified the reputation system to give it a bit more kick. Everything now has more influence.

Re: Feature HowTo: Member Reputation
If I'm interpreting this thread correctly, then the weighting system has been modified (solely ?) to favor those who get better FE than others ?
I can see where that can be skewed. Let's use an example of, say, an Insight owner getting significantly above EPA, but whose posts don't contain very much useful info / value as, say, a FEH owner who doesn't have the most fuel-efficient vehicle relative to the other hybrids, but who might have an engineering or automotive background, and who tends to share an especially prescient opinion or fact with everyone.
In addition, the *way* that they share this info matters as well. I'd much rather hear (read) a level-headed post than one from someone who says "only my way / opinion is right, because I'm getting a bazillion MPG, compared to your puny numbers"
Thus, the only criteria for 'reputation' becomes "who's got the best FE", and half of that is determined by the engineering of the vehicle.
Not sure if that's the best way to determine 'rep'
It could be a contributing factor, but shouldn't be the *sole* one, IMO.
Not asking for a pre-defined criteria system; rather, I think it's best when it's totally subjective, and user-defined.
Note that we do talk about other topics besides FE

What? No, fuel economy has nothing to do with it. Where did you get that idea?

Re: Feature HowTo: Member Reputation
The reputation system is now pretty visible on the top-right of each post. Displayed is the user's power (influence to add or subtract) and reputation value, as well as a link to add or subtract from that user. I hope you all use this well!
