I need therapy (or, "Why I like GreenHybrid")
I'm at my wit's end. This would normally come as no surprise to my family or friends. But there is something else that is driving me batty. It has to do with another forum, and reinforces why I like GreenHybrid so much.
At this other forum, there is a thread titled "Honda Civic Hybrid: Problems and Solutions". In that thread, there is an individual who has complained about many things, including but not limited to the fact that she believes the her hybrid surged forward all by itself, and crashed her HCH through a store window. She also does not seem to like Honda, or men, is threatening to sue, etc., but those are other issues.
The issue is that she recently popped up again to complain about the "Honda Civic Hybrid seats".
I pointed out that there are no such thing as "Honda Civic Hybrid seats", because they are the same seats as in all Honda Civics. You might as well be complaining about:
- the Honda Civic Hybrid headlights, or
- the Honda Civic Hybrid paint, or
- the Honda Civic Hybrid windshield wipers, or
- the Honda Civic Hybrid glove compartment
Of course, you could legitimately complain about the limited trunk size, or the power, or the funny lights on the dashboard, because those are Honda Civic Hybrid attributes, which are unique to the Hybrid. But the other things (seats, headlights, etc.) are not HCH attributes. So you are not complaining about the Hybrid, you are complaining about the Honda Civic in general.
Anyway, I guess what I considered pretty obvious to me is either too subtle for that audience, or else I'm crazy. And my comments were met with predictable rebuttals, and disbelief that I could be so dense.
So the reason I'm posting this here is because (1) it's personally therapeutic, and (2) because I enjoy this forum so much more: everybody is not out to bash each other, but there is a level of reason and intelligence that is lacking elsewhere.
So thanks for letting me sit on the couch here. Go ahead and tell me I'm wrong or crazy or whatever -- I am interested in opinions from reasonable, intelligent folks. And if you can relate to my situation, you can lay that on me too.

Re: I need therapy (or, "Why I like GreenHybrid")
Hi Coyote:
___And how! I love the camaraderie here better then any other site on the net because there is much more support from peers when the skeptics begin their non-sense challenges. I also enjoy how many jump at opportunity to help others improve their own FE with detailed descriptions of their own personal experiences.
___On a more detailed level, I have the largest problems with Edmunds. I was recently asked to interject into an Edmunds thread about HCH FE and False advertising just a week or two ago. Same old clichés … I am going to sue, I am starting a class action lawsuit, nobody can get more FE then I can so it’s the HCH that is at fault, etc. Usually, the mods get involved anytime you point to any information or screenshots available here at GH and screw the content as well as the flow of the back and forth. Fortunately, that thread has just about run its course and the mods have so far let it go but I am expecting a nasty gram any time given their past practices. One of their mods actually wrote to tell me to quit posting links to the GH RHMDB early last year! I asked where on the web there is anything like it and the reply was we are working on our own. I also asked where else I can link FCD screenshot pics from and she said they are working on that too. That was over 1.5 years ago

Hi Coyote:
___It did not take me long to track down your own thread discussions. Hmmm, Edmunds again … The next time you read about a lurch driving someone through a store window, ask why he or she didn’t apply the brakes? Brakes can overcome the HCH’s full ICE and Assist output! I guess they must have missed the part about how the accelerator and brake are both part of an interactive driving experience

What! They make cars with brakes now! How much is that extra? I bet you they just have them so they can charge for replacing brake fluid, or brake pads, or some other made up thing to scam rubes with!
Sorry, maybe it's because it's late, but I always wonder about how someone can be so....uh, well finishing that would probably get me banned.
I suppose telling people that it's the driver, not the car falls on equally deaf ears on why they're not getting good MPGs, and trying to educate them otherwise is seen as a hostile action.
One of the nice things about GH is that despite the fact that we come from just about every different background out there, and drive radically different vehicles, we all seem to get along really well here. (At least in my limited experience)
And seriously, what's up with Edmunds? I swear everything about them is driven to some set of values a handful of people have determined beforehand, and not to do with any real world information! (Not just hybrids either.)

I recal a class action lawsuit about auidis (I think) lunging forward. Thats why you now have to put your foot on the break to get the car out of park. I believe the setled out of court but concensus was the people where mistaking the gas for the break.

Re: I need therapy (or, "Why I like GreenHybrid")
Couple of years ago at IC, someone joined for a long rant that her Insight got only 41mpg (you have to work hard to get it that low). She was trying to recruit help for a class action suit, ignored help to see a different dealer, did not come back. Another "victim". {sigh}

Re: I need therapy (or, "Why I like GreenHybrid")
If you guys think Edmunds is bad, then you'll be absolutely BLOWN AWAY by the level of ignorance over at the gasbuddy forums. Seriously, take a look here and check out some of the incredibly ignorant posts in the top 3 forums. If that's not bad enough you NEED to see the Boycott/Gasout forum. Seriously, if you spent all your time there, you'd be positive that the IQ of the average American has dropped into single digits.
