Exclamation New for 2008

I just sent this to the "contact" person at the bottom of the main page, but I have no idea who that is. Moderators can maybe assist. Don't you agree on the following?

"Dear Webmaster:

The 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid is significantly different in design than the 2005 thru 2007 models.

The 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid has different manufacturer and EPA gas mileage ratings.

The 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid should be in a class of it's own, for real mileage database comparisions, just like the Prius I and Prius II.

Would you please create such a category in your database ASAP?
Thank You."

As an owner, I too have been wondering if there could be more info about '08 models. It seems like a completely different vehicle, although I know it's technically a facelifted '07.

As for mileage, it should be documented that two factors affect the new 2008 EPA comparison numbers. First, from 2007 to 2008 there's an increase due to revisions to the drivetrain and software systems. 4WD model jumps from 32 to 35 city and 29 to 30 highway. Second, 2008 numbers are adjusted to reflect the new EPA calculation method, as required beginning with the 2008 model year. Result: Even though mileage is actually up, 4WD FEH used in example above comes in at an adjusted 29 city and 27 highway on the sticker.

I had emailed the contact as well. The 2008 models aren't even listed, let alone set apart from the 2005-2007 models. I have a '08 FWD Mariner. FWD wasn't even available for the '06 and '07 models.

First, let's move this where it belongs and where it'll get the proper attention.

Secondly, adjusting the database can only be done by one or two people, and takes a long time to reprogram. They still haven't ironed out the Saturn VUE Hybrid yet.

Lastly, I don't see why not, we need a new catagory for the FWD MMH regardless, and may as well add a 2008 - ? FEH, AWD FEH and AWD MMH.

Actually, the mileage database here is REAL mileage.
It does not matter old epa. new epa, etc.
We are not comparing EPA numbers, only real numbers.
Only the gas pumped at the pump matters for GH database purposes.

For all practical purposes, the 2005, 2006, and 2007 models are the same, and it is appropriate to group them together.

It is not just a restyled 2007 for 2008.

2008 is a new beast alltogether.

As long as you input the correct year, they can be split later. I no longer have access to the databases and cannot make the switch. Hopefully CarsDirect will get on this one. Sorry for the delay.

Default how to register 2008 Escape Hybrid

I bought a 2008 but can't register it because option only shows 2007 as newest year option. I sent email week ago to admin. No response. Hate to make 1st post complaint, but who can fix that?

This site went from being managed by a private person, to a corporation.
Since then, changes have been very, very, slow.
Please, all 2008 owners, log your miles on paper or in your home PC.
Do not "taint" the data in the 2005-2007 database.

The 2008 has enough changes to warrant its own category.
When the time comes, you can enter all your tanks at once.
That way we can see the FLEET average mpg with the improvements.
Thank You.
