Revenue & Strategy
(split thread)
<offtopic>
The text ads provide enough revenue to both keep me happy and allow for some relatively pricey software on this site. I hope ya'll appreciate the fact that they're subtle, non-obtrusive, and plain text! It keeps you from having to compensate me, haha. Tomorrow, prepare to be amazed. Website offerings will expand by 1/3.

I for one really appreciate it.
I quit going to a different site for a long time because every 4th thread or so you don't get the thread, but an advertisement.

Was it a Yahoo group? That's what Yahoo does. I completely disagree with that form of advertising. When I go to a website, I hate in-your-face, flashy, click-me-now ads. I refuse to make my visitors put up with it. Besides the annoyance factor, I can't possibly see how it promotes growth. If anything, would it not scare people away?
My strategy is quality. I was actually thinking of making a page here that explains my intentions and philosophy on creating a great website. Style, consistancy, online etiquitte... they're extremely important to me.

Yes, Yahoo.
I wonder why their HCH group has been so slow, going almost weeks without any posts (hee hee)
For the longest time I just didn't bother, must be the same for others.

I immensely appreciate the ad format used, and the absence of banners and blinking crud. Thanks !!!

Thank you for this ad format over others. It is non-obtrusive to the maximum. Reminds me of the Internet circa 1996, when I got my first dial-up connection. Those were good days.
Anyway, in general I appreciate all of the Prius sites. It's like being on some of my old Mac posting boards from a few years ago. Lots of supportive people with good knowledge and a willingness to help out.
