Default 2006 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Price Check, please help!

I've been thinking about buying a Highlander Hybrid and so far the best deal I found is at $500 below invoice ( Autosbargain.com ). Should I have the local dealer to match this price or does anyone think I can get a better deal?

Thanks!

The best deals will depend on which part of the country you live. Here in Seattle, most dealers think they are doing you a favor selling you a car at MSRP or a few hundred off MSRP. I called around and found a dealer in the outskirts of town willing to knock off $2500 of MSRP or $1600 over invoice on my Limited with Nav+RES.

Sounds like the discount at Schaumburg would be worth the one-way airfare to Chicago and fuel driving home, at $4500 off MSRP, they are selling it below dealer invoice.

Joe - I almost hate to point out the obvious but $500 UNDER Invoice would be significantly better than $3,000 off MSRP. I bought ours about 2 months ago for around $3,500 off MSRP. Not the best, but also not the worst deal out there. Mine is a 4wdi with NAVI.

I bought 2006 HiHy 2WD Basic with option 1 (EF). The price I paid $32000. My calculation tells me it was $470 above invoice. Dealer told me it was $100 below invoice.

My $3,500 off was a fully loaded 4wdi with NAVI. Your ~$3,500 off a base model is more impressive. Seems that a number of dealers are advertising $4,500 off a Highlander but when you get to their stealership, they say "Oh, the $4,500 off is for non-Hybrids ONLY. The Discounts on Hybrids is lower, more like XYZ off those units. Were you looking for a Hybrid?"

For my recent car purchases, I have used the internet to get pricing. This has resulted in responses from various dealerships. At one dealership where I bought a car, I was told that they price all of their internet sales at 1% above invoice. Even though I dont't buy directly over the internet, I believe letting the dealerships know that you are using the internet and comparative shopping, gives you good negotiating leverage. Pricing is contingent upon many factors like credit, dealer inventory, model year and current date. I would think that if you waited for the 2007 highlander hybrids to come into dealer inventories you could get a really good deal on a 2006 model.

My salesperson was Guy Drake gdrake@schaumburgtoyota.com 1-847-882-1800
sales mgr Joe Sondag 1-847-882-1800

I contacted Joe Sondag before this posting and said that I had mentioned my sale at an internet site. Joe said to feel free to give out his name, etc.

Good luck in your quest for a Highlander Hybrid!

I got my 2006 4 x 2 base w/ pkg 1 for $7000 off MSRP in mid August. I paid $31,000 including tax. I'm not sure if the 2007s are out yet but if they are, if you can find a 2006, it would be considered a year old and the price should reflect the depreciation.
