Default Odd Review Comment

In a review of the HiHy by a Florida newspaper, the writer said:
But be prepared because it takes a few seconds longer to get the electric motor going than it does a gas engine. The reward for your patience is near total silence and a mileage rating you'd expect in a compact car not a midsize SUV.
I have no idea what this person means by a delay. Yes, if you turn the key but don't go anywhere, then it takes a few seconds for the gas engine to turn on by itself. But if you wanna go, the HiHy moves as quickly as you can turn the key and shift into gear.

The comment in the article makes no sense. Someone probably transcribed it wrong.

guys
i agree . We can just turn the key and go. There is no delay in the slightest in the EV . It does take a minuite for the ICE to kick on, but thats a GOOD thing. lol.

cheers

I think what he is talking about is a slight delay in acceleration when you first step on the gas. I noticed this in my vehicle when I first purchased my HiHy. It is barely noticable and I have gotten quite use to it, but it is there.

I believe this is another case of some junior newspaper reporter reviewing a product without adequate research. My take on the article is that the reviewer didnt just quickly turn the key, see the ready light, and drive. For whatever reason they waited until the ICE started, and then assumed the car was then ready to drive. It also shows poor technical editing by the senior newspaper staff (or lack of knowledge).
