I would like to add a small subwoofer (8") and box and amp to the HiHy to enhance the bass, but I had a concern about the complex electronics of the hybrid system. Mine came with the 8 speaker JBL Navigation and DVD combo.

I would think that Toyota designed the electronics to be "balanced" in the original factory state, so if were we to add aftermarket devices, would it upset this "balance".

I searched but couldn't find any info...has anybody done this before?

I dunno much about electrical wiring, but i will tell you that in my opinion the stereo on the highlander is mediocre at best. I wouldnt find the watt output worthy of a sub woofer, but i could be mistaken.

I fantisize every day about upgrading the speakers. Coming from a Bose system the JBL is cruuuuuuuudy.
