Can you guys clarify what tires come stock on these two vehicles? Do you know if they are LRR (low rolling resistance) tires?

I understand that the Continental Eco Plus LRR tires that came stock on Escape and Mariner Hybrids are no longer in production so I am considering an alternative set of tires. With the donut spare Ford provided, I don't like the idea of being unable to replace a tire that went flat.

I had to specifically ask for the Michelins ... I believe the stock was Bridgestone. It seems be be pretty random which you get.

Yes. We did get the Limited model. You could be right in regards to the tire being model dependent. I just don't know.

I'm not sure if there was any rhyme or reason as to which came with which tires. There was speculation as to 4wd vs fwd or location earlier but I'm not sure if any consensus was reached (and honestly don't remember if it was here or over at HiHyChat.com). Mine is a Base 4wdi purchased thru CarMax in Baltimore area and it came with the Michelin's.

I think it was completely random at the factory on which tire came with your HiHy. For example, they didn't put the cheaper Goodyears on the base or 2wd cars. My 4wd Limited, production date 7/06 came with the Goodyear Integrity.

I wasn't thrilled when i saw that tire, but now that I know that the Goodyears allow for higher pressures, 44psi vs 35psi, I wonder if that will result in lower rolling resistance vs the Michelins.

Its definitely a low performance tire, but if its OK in the rain and allows for better fuel mileage, I'll keep them till they wear out.
