Post It Ain't Easy Being Green!

Kermit (the frog) in a Super Bowl XL commercial.
Here's the link from Ford Media:
http://media.ford.com/article_displa...&make_id=trust

DEARBORN, Mich., Jan. 30, 2006 – Kermit the Frog, celebrated actor, author, singer, journalist and expert on all things green, will appear in a new integrated marketing campaign for the Ford Escape Hybrid that will debut during the second quarter of Super Bowl XL on Feb. 5.

In the 30-second ad spot developed for Super Bowl XL by JWT Detroit, Ford’s advertising agency of record, Kermit will encounter the Escape Hybrid – the world’s first hybrid SUV – while exploring the great outdoors. The full story line will be kept secret until the Super Bowl.

It's not that easy being green;
Having to spend each day the color of the leaves.
When I think it could be nicer being red, or yellow or gold...
or something much more colorful like that.

It's not easy being green.
It seems you blend in with so many other ord'nary things.
And people tend to pass you over 'cause you're
not standing out like flashy sparkles in the water
or stars in the sky.

But green's the color of Spring.
And green can be cool and friendly-like.
And green can be big like an ocean, or important like a mountain,
or tall like a tree.

When green is all there is to be
It could make you wonder why, but why wonder why?
Wonder, I am green and it'll do fine, it's beautiful!
And I think it's what I want to be.

The point of the ad is that after singing how hard it is to be green, Kermit comes upon an FEH and responds, *Maybe it isn't so hard after all.*

My understanding is that Kermit will be a continuing logo for the FEH. If so, there should be more Kermit commercials for Ford.

Ah. erm. yes. Well, that would make sense, John. Too bad I didn't actually get a chance to see the commercial (can't watch it online, slow connection). If it becomes a series, though, I'll probably see it sometime in the future. Kermit and the other Muppets do a lot of commercials. Here's my theory- if they've got an ad agreement with the Muppets, they should start using other famous green characters in series- Kermit, Oscar the Grouch, Yoda. On second thought, it would be too expensive to market Yoda - licensing would go through Lucas Arts/Star Wars, not Jim Henson etc.

If you want to see the FEH commercial with Kermit - and the other Super Bowl commercials as well, follow these links originally posted on another thread by Sledge:
