Well, the thing that stuck out in my mind is the Saturn Vue Greenline. Original press releases said the hybrid system would add "under $2000". Then it was $1500-2000. So now they're actually releasing it with a $2000 pricetag. One has to wonder if they figure they're gonna try to get this one product to make up for the money they're losing elsewhere.

Escape Hybrid starts at $26,240, according to Ford's website. Escape has a $2600 tax credit.

Vue Greenline starts at $22,995, according to Saturn's site. Vue has a $650 credit.

That makes it $1295 cheaper. I don't really see that as enough of a savings to get people to abandon the FEH. 1 MPG more highway isn't going to make up for 9 city.

I hope to see more choices in the future as a result. I doubt that gas will ever get cheap again.

Faldoc...!

Good to see you here. As a fellow sufferer of the 2007 Camry transmission problem I'm glad that you made the jump to a Hybrid (as I did, although I chose the Highlander). Good luck with your Camry Hybrid.

I really liked the V6 (when it worked) as it was such a strong car, and economical considering the power. I was getting 30 mpg in the XLE. However, since I have changed my driving habits a lot, I rarely used the power. The Hybrid Camry has perfectly adequate power for my needs now.
