Default hybrid FFV...soon

Finally someone decided to take the no-brainer step...but no release date yet. FEH FFV- can't get here quickly enough!

Perhaps there are some engineering challenges with ETOH in an Atkinsonized engine, particularly meeting PZEV reqs under all fuel mixes.

Read about it in the Free Press. http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/a...SS01/601250326

For the actual details, no, they aren't going to make it. It gets 25% worse FE, and isn't a PZEV. However, it's a good test for them, and once they figure it out, it'll be a nice vehicle. It'll probably be a few years before the problems get solved and it goes into production.

Who knows, maybe my next vehicle will be an Ethonol Hybrid!

It's possible to make an engine run with the same MPG and deliver more power with ethanol using the proper timing adjustments. In those conditions the thermal efficiency is very high because there's less heat energy in ethanol, yet more power is being produced without using more fuel.
