I saw these at the Tornoto Auto Show in the halls outside of the North buildings V.W./Hyundai section.

So tell me this, you are going to spend the extra 5 Grand for a Hybrid version of the Ford Escape over a non-hybrid Escape, and then another few thousand for a Litium Ion Battery plus the added inconvenience of having to plug it in ($$$) and somehow expect to see some savings?
You do know the majority of electricity in the US is generated from power plants that burn fossil fuels?

Driving is driving and emissions are emissions. If you're going to do comparisons on that level, taking into account actual driving needs makes it fair game [to compare sports sedans to economy cars]. No one really needs a 3-series or an M5 over a Toyota Yaris, but it certainly is a nicer car to drive. In the end, you make your own choice and you deal with the consequences.

Yes no one really needs an M5 over a Yaris, But at the end of the day they are 2 completley different cars with nothing in comparison. What we are doing here is comparing a Ford Escape to a Ford Escape. Not only do you start with a $5000 premium on the hybrid over the comparible non-hybrid, but factor in the new Li-Ion system and you are adding higher maintenance costs, more intervention (plug it in) and so on. So yes, I agree you do live with the consequences, but in this case, apples to apples the consequences are much greater with what they are proposing

Think of it this way. Lots of people pay big bucks for expensive, wickedly fast cars and rarely use more than a 10th of its performance capability. Why not a more expensive commuter-duty machine that gets super high mileage nearly all the time? In this case, it's the mileage and emissions performance that is operating at near full capacity instead of the rare use of a sports cars' uber-low 0-60 times. If you're going to use a plug-in Escape as a daily driver, at least it would be performing as promised all the time.

Just answer the question: How are you in any way shape or form an hybrid enthuasist?

Every one of these posts detract from hybrids or are flame-bait > Find all posts by Hondasucks. You are selling your Insight for at least 70K, saying Honda is at fault. Also tried to say Toyota does not have the rights to their HSD.

Hasn't your Mom told that nice guests leave a home rather than tear it up?

I'm really talking to everyone but Hondasucks - he has proven he can't be reasoned with.

Even if it performs as promised, we are not talking about a few hundred bucks. We are talking $7,000 + Over the exact same vehicle as well as well as added hasle plus the possibility of huge repair bills down the road. Sure a few will try, but i definitly do not see this as something to get excited over. Li-Ion Hybrids is alot more exciting then NMHD + Aftermarket LI-Ion Battery Pack + Plug in
