If an OPEC Nation Stops Oil - $79 to $262 a Barrel
CNN/Money discusses what happens if a major OPEC nation either embargos their oil or falls to revolution.

More realistic -- and therefore more chilling -- would be the scenario where Iran declares an oil embargo a la OPEC in 1973, which Browder thinks could cause oil to double to $131 a barrel. Other outcomes include an embargo by Venezuelan strongman Hugo Chavez ($111 a barrel), civil war in Nigeria ($98 a barrel), unrest and violence in Algeria ($79 a barrel) and major attacks on infrastructure by the insurgency in Iraq ($88 a barrel).

Yes, it's a fragile world on which we live. Any of those scanerios could happen. Therefore, reducing dependcy on any of those clowns should be our first priority.

Well the tough part is that you can't really pick and choose what nations you're getting oil from because it's a world market. We're all competing for the same finite resources. I think I would re-phrase what you said to: reducing dependancy should be our first priority. Higher fuel economy mandates should be taking place right now while we can still afford it, not later, when high energy costs have dragged the economy down.

There is an easier way to drive up prices without an oil embargo: start selling oil in Euros instead of US dollars.

It all falls back on GREED.
Just send bush and his men in there to clean house.. like they have done in Iraq and take over the oil fields..
(like the law that the supreme court passed, where govt. can take privately owned land if it's to better the quality of life for others).
LOL, or we could go and geneticly hybrid horses, (eat less & travel farther).

Lmao, then we would have another wacko telling us that the methane is eating another hole in the ozone and if we dont do something about it soon its gonna start melting the polar ice caps then cause El-Ninio to change the weather patterns.. wich inturn will cause those who believe to run around like chicken little watching the falling sky ..

When they run around like chicken little, they'd better watch where they step.
I am currently using only 5 gallons per week so I think I'll be okay with a small bail of hay
