Newsweek Article about Honda's Business Philosophy
http://msnbc.msn.com/id/8272373/site/newsweek/
Nicely packaged article about Honda's mentality in the marketplace, especially from an engineering / FE / environmental standpoint.
For those of you who think "ok, PR propaganda" - this is certainly not the first time *I'm* hearing of this stuff, but this article is more accessible to many, and thus, may make for interesting reading. FWIW, it helps explain why I'm a repeat customer, an advocate for, and a stockholder of this company.
Mods: Feel free to relocate if needed. Thx.

Re: Newsweek Article about Honda's Business Philosophy
Hi GreenAndBlue:
___That was an excellent article on FE and the high level corporate decisions necessary to achieve it. Funny thing is that the lead engineer of the MDX (Charlie Baker) originally came from GM. The Honda Ridgeline was also designed by a former GM truck engineer who goes by the name of Gary Flint. Crafting a pickup: Ex-GM engineer designed Ridgeline the Honda way
___Did you see the common thread?
___Given the article you linked has quite a bit to do with the MDX design, what did you think with your week behind the wheel
___Good Luck

Interview With Honda's Lead US Engineer on Why They Have Best FE
Honda has the best fleet fuel economy of any auto maker. Detractors might say it's because they were very late making trucks and SUVs but Honda's management is just uncomfortable making vehicles that are not fuel efficient (see article below). Honda has always wanted to make the mos fuel efficient vehicles for that class even when gas was cheap. They are kind of frustrated that while they have a higher fleet mpg and the most hybrid choices, Toyota is getting the publicity. My take on that is Toyota markets their hybrids better.

Re: Interview With Honda's Lead US Engineer on Why They Have Best FE
I'd say kudos to Honda for two reasons: developing and pursuing the IMA technology, and also for theri corporate fuel economy mantra. Honda deserves a lot of credit for only minimally jumping on the SUV bandwagon, and then in a reasonably responsible way (CRV, MDX). In my view Honda stands out for being a company that does not sell non-commercial vehicles with more than 6 cylinders. Kudos for that! I think Toyota could match Hondas corporate fuel economy, if they gave up all engines with more than 6 cylinders.
Anyway, thanks for the interesting post/link!

Yep, I've seen that done before (I was in the same position you are), but only a mod can do it...so we'll let them do the magic
I agree w/ you...let's get this in one thread and continue discussion there (MGBGT's post deserves response, for example
