Default Kids invent electric A/C

I wonder how good this thing will work once fully perfected:

.

'00 Insight "Wazabi" -75,000+ miles
'03 Toyota Matrix - 81,000+ miles

"I'm very secure with my little Insight, no Prius envy here."

gut a few of these:

or buy just the Peltier device itself: http://www.allelectronics.com/cgi-bi...T-5&type=store

Used lots of places as power generators too- Pioneer/Voyager spacecraft and whatnot. Reverse the current and its a heater, also. You just need a really good way to quickly remove all the heat that is very nearby (car chasis?), or it loses effectiveness rapidly. Since they work on temperature differences, if its ungodly hot outside it will never get supercold inside- but probably get cool enough.

TECs are great for small areas/volumes where size/weight are an issue. They don't scale so well; compressor-based units use less energy for anything larger than a dorm fridge. Still, one never knows- it may just do well enough!
