See the article at:

I may go out to the parking lot and crack the windows open a little.

Regards,

I knew that most Microsoft Stuff was full of crap, but now I have proof.

I think you have a better chance of death via buyer's remorse than the new car smell.

Studies also show that the concentration of Radon gas while taking a hot shower equal the cancer risk of smoking cigarettes.

If it's not one thing in this world it's another!
I'm still showering and buying new cars. (I'm sure many are thankful of that!)

It was just a matter of time. They've also done studies that show when you drive in traffic you are effectively driving through a concentrated column of exhaust and subjecting yourself to much higher levels of toxicity.

I should think the "new car smell" is nothing compared to the rush-hour traffic toxicity.

I certainly noticed the difference when I bought my HAH. Previously I owned a 2003 HCH and for the first year the fumes were worse than any car I had ever owned. It seemed like it took forever for them to subside. I've noticed a much lower level of fumes in the HAH and very little haze on the windshield. A very nice improvement.

Many of these volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are toxic or carcinogenic, but it is not certain that they would be at the concentrations in a car. BUT, they are also repiratory irritants. I have asthma, and it is a seriouis concern if I have to get a new car in the winter; this stuff will cause asthma attacks in people sensitive to these compounds. It is really good news for me that the new Civic and some other cars will be built with low VOCs.

PS Once again, my thanks to all you hybrid drivers that help to give me cleaner air to breath.
