The "Business Week" online Hybrid buying guide (Aug 1, 2006 by Matt Vella) says "The Honda Insight will cease production this fall, but the company has said it would offer a vehicle smaller than the Civic to replace it." Any insights () into the nature or pricing or availability date of the forthcoming model?

Considering that the FIT is a stunning success so far, the next hybrid will probably be something *like* the FIT. The reports I read indicated that the next car will be its own model however, not a hybrid version of a conventional car. Still, if the new hybrid is FITish, that would be great.

Off topic... For some reason, I keep having this recurring dream about owning a HOnda FIT "Sport" edition, with 5-speed automatic and the manumatic paddle shifters. Weird, eh? I've never even test driven the car!

Well, it's probably the Fit or something similar. That's OK and all, but based off of the latest gen HCH I wonder if there is going to be a replacement for the manual tranmission Insight. If it's only CVT with no option for MT then that might be a serious disappointment for current MT owners.
