Default Toyota and Honda future lineup changes

Honda future and upcoming plans:

http://www.autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060815/FREE/60814013/1041/PROMOBLOG01
Same for Toyota:

Interesting stuff - mostly what we already know, but in a concise summary.

My take on the Honda lineup changes:

-- Civic Diesel: That would be pretty cool. A "clean" diesel might get close to 40 MPG and be an intermediate option between the standard Civic and the hybrid.

-- Fit: I'm already hopelessly obsessed with this car. I'm going to own one when my hybrid is paid off. If there's a hybrid Fit, that would just be awesome!

-- Mystery Hybrid Car: A sedan version of Fit would make sense. It both cars use the same frame and engine, then it will be likely that the Fit could be offered as a hybrid.

-- Ridgeline: Who cares about huge v8 engines anymore? A hybrid Ridgeline would be cool -- assuming Honda finds a way to give IMA some towing capability.

-- Accord: I could understand them dropping the HAH in favor of diesel, since a diesel Accord would probably beat the HAH in fuel economy.

-- Insight: I'll miss this little critter. It's a shame that Honda doesn't want to redesign it (say, as a tiny 2-seat convertable ala MG Spitfire or something like that.)

.

Hope is like a candle held against the night.

It has nothing to do with hybrids, but with the demise of the Solara Toyota will be without a convertible. I would have loved an MR2 Spyder.
