Sienna in 2008 (officially released). Then, IMHO it will be the RAV as they need something to compete with the VUE and the HiHy is a little too big. I also think the Corolla will be last because it would compete with the Prius.

A Hybrid Corolla would kill the Prius market, Yaris market, devastate the regular Corolla market, make the Civic hybrid obsolete, and set the Camry Hybrid market back a few steps. The other Auto - makers would cry foul.

Cool Re: Toyota will offer al models by 2010

Ahhh. OK, I may have jumped the gun with the "official" bit, however, I DID find this post that I ran across last week on Topix interesting, particurlarly given the last line. It was quoted when someone posted a specualtion about what the Sienna Hybrid would be like. http://www.topix.net/forum/autos/toy...C1QS6LBI54SBKD
<quoted text>you have no idea what you're talking about. The MPG won't be that high and the price won't be that high. It will be around $26-$27K with a 4 cylinder engine. It won't be out until 2008 sorry. I am an executive at Toyota.
I don't know why a hybrid Corolla would "kill" the Prius, they are hardly the same size (though you can pretty much figure it is getting compared to it once a minute or so. :-)). I know it isn't as small as it used to be (it seems to have grown a few feet, it is still a compact.

The Yaris would continue to be quite a lot cheaper, and I think the Camry is still quite a lot larger-- and considered a bit more upscale, imo ($18,000 for a very stripped down one vs. $12,000 or so for the Yaris. The Corolla is kind of in between-- maybe inhabits the spot the Corona used to be in.

Not sure if they have intentions that way, because they keep putting it in bigger cars.

Unfortunately, that's probably true about a hybrid Corolla "killing" the Prius.
It would be a shame because they're not directly equivalent cars, but they're close enough that they would directly compete with one another in most people's minds.

It would be too bad for people like me, because there's definitely no way I could put a double aluminum rifle case plus shooting equipment into a Corolla as easily as into my Prius.

I think you overestimate the Corolla's drawing power and Toyota's competitive abilities. I'm not referring to sales figures, but whether a hybrid system in a Corolla can attract buyers. All the same, if and when Toyota makes hybrids out of the Yaris and Corolla, they will have to be stripped down systems, like "mild" hybrids or nothing more than auto stop. Just enough for them to say that they did it.
