Re: Who Makes The Best Cars?
Best in what? Best in styling would be a tie between American & European. Best in driving dynamics would be European. Best in technology would be Japanese. Best in emissions/mileage would also be Japanese. Best up-and-comer would be Korean. Best in quality would be Japanese with American a *very* close second.

Re: Who Makes The Best Cars?
I asked the exact same question MSNBC did.
My guess is their intent was "best quality"

Re: Who Makes The Best Cars?
I had an American car for 2 years and in that two years I spent more on repairs than the rest of my 12 car owning years combined. The rest were all Japanese. I will never buy an American car again.

Re: Who Makes The Best Cars?
Just my humble opinion:
-- Top Tier:
Honda, Toyota
-- Middle Tier
Ford, Nissan, Hyundi, Volkswagon, Volvo, Subaru, DC.
-- Junk Tier
GM (and most especially Pontiac), Kia, Mitsubisi, Jeep. Porsche
Yes, I know there are more brands than this, but these are the ones that immediately came to mind.

Re: Who Makes The Best Cars?
If you ask about reliability, then Renault and Fiat are the bottom feeders. Althught the vehicles themselves are good looking and have very nice performance.
Of course, the Yugo was on a league of its own.

Re: Who Makes The Best Cars?
I've had 4 Hondas, 1 toyota truck, 1 Saturn and one Chevy Tahoe. All the Hondas were good except the 85 civic with the a/c. It quit and NOBODY could find a leak or anything. All of a sudden it just quit. The Tahoe we have 50,000 miles and just put the first set of tires on it and had the right front wheel hub replaced. Not to bad in my book.Toyota truck had the transmission reworked at 65,000 miles as it kept poping out of 5th and no I didn't do any pulling either and no real heavy loads. Also I knew a guy at work with a one year newer Toyota truck and it started doing the same thing. Saturn well it was ok but after 70,000 miles it just didn't feel right but then again my teenager drove that car...lolkevin

Re: Who Makes The Best Cars?
According to Consumer Reports, an eight-year-old Honda has the exact same reliability as a three-year-old GM. I suppose that's a kind way of saying that if you buy a GM, your vehicle will probably be in the junkyard before you finish paying for it. \
But man! The GM execs sure have cashed in on that cheap Mexican labor they got from NAFTA! All it's done is kill their quality. But hey, Americans don't mind shelling out $45k for a bloated, unreliable SUV/Truck every 3-4 years, right? Ha ha ha ha ha!
