Default 08 Tch Vs. 08 Hch

I have been bouncing back and forth on getting a hybrid car. It makes total sense as I drive 85 miles round trip from the inland empire to Los Angeles daily in stop and go traffic via the 210 fwy. So I have not decided to choose a hybrid, but which one and prices seem to be the only questions left.

I have spent the last 2 weeks on quotes and emails. Here is what I am down to and the best prices I can find.
Honda Civic Hybrid = Non-Navigtion car in my choice of colors for $20,598 with all taxes and fees, $22,562.62 out the door.

Toyota Camry Hybrid = Non-Navigation car in my choice of colors with floor and trunk mats, leather and upgraded wheels & stereo package comes to $ 24,450 (incl. $500 rebate). With all taxes & fees, $26,790.66 out the door.

I would love some feedback on which car to get and what the fourm thinks of these deals.

TCH.

I have a very similar commute daily. The TCH is very comfortable (just make sure you don't fall asleep).

The Camry Hybrid is a sweet car, no doubt about it.

However, the HCH and TCH are two different cars in two different classes ... and the only similarity between the two is ...

... Trunk space !!

Other than that, there's the difference in fuel economy, overall size, interior passenger space, price, features and hybrid system - just to mention a few.

Give them both a test drive and pick the best for you. Whichever car you choose you'll definitely be well served.

Cheers;

MSantos

You will get better fuel economy with the Civic Hybrid, if that is important to you, and I am sure it is other wise you would not be looking at these cars. Don't you like the Prius?H

I say HCH2 for better MPG, but knowing I'd be tempted by the sweetness of the TCH, I chose to not even look at it! The only reasons I kept away from this temptation:
(1) better MPG of the HCH2, and
(2) somewhat lower price of the HCH2, and
(3) I found nothing lacking in the HCH2 (although leather & bluetooth would be nice).

I can add leather and bluetooth if I desire (to spend the money ), and I'll still get the better MPG. Good enough for me. I'm happy in my HCH2.

The TCH is a great car! I have never looked at the HCH but it is really not the same class of car. the HCH is a smaller car and probably weighs alot less than the TCH does at 3760lbs. I'm sure the fuel economy in the HCH is better but the TCH is a bigger car. I didn't look at the Prius or the HCH because they are too small for my tastes. Plus Toyota has been in the hybrid market for over 8 years in the US now.

Very little dif. in HCH2 & the TCH for size. I think the wheel base and width are all-most the same? H

Wheelbase 109.3 vs 106.3 inches (TCH vs HCH2)
Width 71.7 vs 69.0 inches

Interior space:

Shoulder (front) 57.8 vs 53.6 inches
Hip (front) 54.6 vs 51.9 inches

EPA volume:

Passenger 101.4 vs 90.9 cubic feet
Cargo 10.6 vs 10.4 cubic feet

Personally I don't see the TCH and the HCH2 as real competitors. They are too different in size and type. If I was looking for a high-mileage commuter I'd compare the Prius with the HCH2.

As mentioned in the other thread with this question, with stop and go driving, I'd get the Toyota hybrid in a second.

Not a big dif. and they are both 5 passenger auto's. I agree the TCH is more luxurious and has a smoother ride. H
