Default Camry vs Prius-driving in the wind

Sometimes you have to own a car for year or so to get to know it. I bought a camry(and remember no matter what i get i wounder if I should have gotten something else) And after a year I have noticed it always moves around in heavy winds. My question is: Has anyone driven both the Prius and the camery in windy conditions and which one moves around the most?

Before getting my TCH, we rented a Prius for couple of days to thoroughly test drive it! I noticed driving home on the freeway that it did blow around in the lane quite a bit. I haven't really noticed it in my TCH. My husband doesn't really notice the wind when he is driving his Prius. I do notice headwinds make a bit of a difference in my TCH's mileage tho.

I have a TCH now for over a year. Before that I drove a Prius for two+ years. The TCH is stable on the road and not bad in crosswinds, passing trucks etc. The Prius would wander at higher speeds wind or no wind.
I think it might have to do with the thinner sidewall tires they have to reduce rolling resistance and not the inherent design of either suspension system.

I don't think its the tires! I have those tires on my HCH2 and it is not effected that way. Try having your alignment checked. H

I think not. This is a systemic issue within the Prius and to a lesser extent the TCH line. It is NOT a alignment issue.

HCH2 is not a problem in windy conditions. H

I've had my TCH since June 2007, and one of the things I've remarked on is how stable it is in windy conditions. On the other hand, its also the largest and heaviest car I've owned, so that may be a factor in my perception of it.

I suspect is has more to do with curb weight. Compare the "wind shock" when passing a large semi at hiway speeds that is coming in the other direction. The TCH that I have now barely notices. The Prius that I rented for two months let you know that the truck was there with a momentary squirreliness -- nothing serious, but you were aware of it.

Based on the comments comparing the HCH and Prius, I wonder if suspension design plays a role. I've noticed that twist-beams tend to have a less stable and less "planted" feel compared to multilink rear suspensions.
