Default compare civic hybrid and prius

I need to know how much room in real terms the prius and the civic hybrids have. I go camping every year, for 3 weeks. I need to carry a big cooler, a sleeping bag, and air mattress, and a 25 gallon plastic storage tub and a 3/4 size guitar. which one or will they both have enough room? all that stuff fits into my 1992 civic vx, but I will soon have to get rid of it due to a car accident. I got rear-ended.

The Prius may be the better vehicle.

The Civic will do if you do not have a car loaded with people.

the prius is definitely more versatile when it comes to carrying larger items because you can't fold the seats down in an HCH.

I did have a chance to check out a friend's prius, at the sunday jam. Plenty of room for all my kerrville gear in there....... also plan to check out another friend's civic hybrid this sunday. I hope I can get a hybrid when my lawyer finally arranges a loaner for me. That will give me a chance to give it a longer term test drive to see how practical it is. btw, my friend's prius averages 49 mpg. very cool That's even better than my sweet little civic vx i'm still gonna miss my sweet little civic vx, tho. she was a college graduation gift from my brothers and gramma.

The Prius definitely has more room, but the fuel economy is very comparable. According to the database on this site, the HCHII has an average of 46.0 mpg while the Prius has 47.3 mpg. I own both an HCHII and a HiHy. Speaking just in terms of FE relative to the EPA ratings, I do much better in the HCHII than the Toyota. Also, most people seem to say that the HCHII is better for highway driving. However, if the HCHII doesn't have enough cargo room for you, none of this really matters.

...If the only reasons someone has for taking the highway includes seasonal recreation or vacation trips. But they could be taking a big vehicle for those any ways. Quite a lot of people commute to work by highway, and what do they need for cargo space? Enough for a briefcase and/or laptop?
