Just because the GHDB population has stabilized and shows a normal distribution doesn't mean you can extrapolate it to the entire population. There's a good scientific reason why statisticians insist on a random sampling before they can credibly use a sample population to represent the entire population.

nasa, I'm not sure he was extrapolating the numbers for the entire population. I believe he was just saying that the numbers in the database as they are are probably not going to change. I don't think he is saying the database is stasticaly accurate for the entire population.
Then again its late so I may be misreading his post.

This discussion reminds me of some churches..."Mine is the best..No Mine is !"
Can't we just agree to disagree on somethings and all agree that no matter which car you go with your doing the environment a huge favor ?
While I would agree the GH milage database is great due to the number of data points, you may also want to check out the EPA's "Real-World" milage database of drivers posting data.
https://www.fueleconomy.gov/mpg/MPG....ion=browseList
The results show both the '06 Prius and '06 HCH are nearly identical, 44.4 (HCH2) vs 44.1(P2). I find this amazing, based on the significant diffrences between IMA and HSD

Re: Prius still Champeen, but HCH-II making push
IMA only gets good numbers because the technology was stollen from the alien crash site at Roswell. IMA is so simple because all the alien tech is in the "ecu" where you can't see it. There is no way an IMA systems should get near what HSD systems get. Alien technology is the onle sane reason.

How have you been doing with the HCH II? Any news to report? Milage going up, down, staying the same?

You know, I had typed out a nice, detailed reply here, clicked 'preview', and promptly lost my post to the 'furry green monster' - AGAIN
Sorry...I'm not typing all of that over again - usually, I Ctrl-A / Ctrl-C my post before submitting, as a safeguard, but forgot this time, and sure enough, paid the price.
I'm holding about 52-54 on the work commute - my shorter / colder trips bring the tank down. Posted 1st tank - 531mi / 10.7 gals = 49.6mpg
Car has 775mi as of today. Another 800-1000mi, and I should see the first jump in mileage (and the engine loosen up a little bit, hopefully. That thing is very tight right now).
