IMHO the new EPA estimates are dead-on. I'm up to 36k miles (went into service on 8/1/06) and I've averaged 34.5 over the life of my car.

Yeah I'd say considering the average here, with almost 500 TCH owners logging fuel consumption data, an average of 36.6 would kind of indicate the EPA estimate is reasonable. I mean if this car were being driven the way non-hybrids are, the FE would be lower than 36.6, and I'd say 34 would be a reasonable estimate just based on changing driving behavior. The fact 500 people are getting just 36-37 mpg averaged among them gives a good indication that 40 mpg is still by no means "normal" performance, especially lifetime. If you're doing a little better than EPA, you're probably driving fairly well as a hybrid owner. If you're doing EPA, you're probably driving normally, just happen to be in a good efficient car. If you're getting stellar FE, you're probably fortunate in where you live, lol. Plus driving well.

How did you measure the MPG over the lif of the car? I dont see this in the gauge display - just indicates MPG for the current tank.

One way is to use this site, enter your mileage
Look under your name on the left side of this page. The link should say manage my cars.
