Don't take it too personally Joe - I meant it as a nice gesture.. Hence the Smiley at the end...

Are you from MN also?

It's headed for 10f tonight - we'll see how "spry" she starts in the morning..

I'd give mine a 10, and hope it ages better than Nadia Comaneci.

My TCH wins hands down -- I like it even better that I did my Audi 5000.

My wife has a 2002 Forester that gets 28MPG and it has been an otherwise awesome car. We are both hoping that the Toyota HSD technology (or even better, the next generation of THS II) will find its way into the Subaru AWD vehicles. If that happens, there is no question what her next car will be in 2009. We live in the mountains on winding roads. The HiHy is nice, but a little to big for our needs.

Here are the vehicles owned by my wife and I, but rated from my perspective. LOTS of GM vehicles in a row, while I worked for a GM supplier and got a big discount on them. The TCH, the three LeSabres, and the Monte Carlo are all vehicles driven mostly by the missus. I've had mostly trucks, and the next one of those will be a Toyota, maybe a Highlander instead, and maybe a HyHi.

2007 TCH - 9.5 (fabulous!, console squeak, no folding mirrors, trunk a little small, other little stuff deprive it of a 10)
2001 Buick LeSabre - 7 (overall decent, 30MPG hwy, transmission issue, still not my favorite type of car, still own it for kids to drive)
1999 GMC Sierra 4WD pickup - 8 (capable, good ride, reliable, minor problems, tow vehicle, still own it)
1997 Buick LeSabre - 7 (a few minor problems, 30 MPG hwy, ride too uncontrolled)
1994 Chevy Silverado pickup - 10 (zero problems, zero design complaints, good ride, 20 MPG hwy, tow vehicle)
1991 Buick LeSabre - 9 (zero problems, 30 MPG hwy, just not my favorite vehicle type)
1988 Chevy pickup - 9 (zero problems, small design misses, 20 MPG hwy, tow vehicle)
1987 Acura Legend - 3 (a blast to drive, reliability nightmare, zero response from Acura/Honda on my complaints)
1983 Chevy Monte Carlo - 7.5 (zero problems, didn't like the overall design at all)
1981 Toyota Corolla - 8 (zero problems, almost zero power )
1979 VW Rabbit - 6 (fantastic design, fun to drive, tons of recalls and problems, loved it and hated it almost every day)
1974 Toyota HiLux pickup - 9 (zero problems despite teenage thrashing, very sound basic design, it's a 9 only when viewed from biased modern perspective)

I have a fully loaded '03 DTS that is hard to beat in a lot of ways, especially for the money I paid. It's got so many bells and whistles it's ridiculous. I love the ride, power and comfort. I love my TCH for what it is; but it can't compare to a larger luxury sedan. I know Cadillac has a bad rep for reliability, but I’ve had three and I think it’s how you take care of a car that has a lot to do with it’s longevity. In buying my ’07 TCH, I just put my ’97 Sedan Deville (De Elegance) to pasture. It had 197K miles on it and the biggest thing I had to do to it was fix a minor oil leak. I love being able to pass a truck on a two lane highway going 60 miles per hour and by the time I clear it and get back into the right lane, I’m in three digits.

I rate my DTS at a 9.0 and my TCH at a 7.0. I think Toyota could have done a lot of things better ergonomically like:

1) Memory package. My DTS remembers two different drivers last settings like radio/CD station, track and volume, cabin temperature, three mirror memory, seat heat and position.

2) Armrests - need I say more?

3) Back-up sensors. Just about everybody has them now.

4) A decent navigation system. The TCH is obsolete at best.

I know a lot of you are going to take offense at these minor critiques, but I still think the TCH is a great little car.

The TCH is definitely the best hybrid on the road.
