Default Anyone put a bike rack hitch on their TCH?

I want to put a hitch on my TCH so I can carry bikes. I would hate to scratch the car with the other type of bike racks.

I know the mileage will go down when carrying the bikes, but does it go down a lot with just adding the hitch? I love seeing 38-39mpg on my display!

If you've done this, where did you get the hitch? I found one at Uhaul.

I also want to put a receiver hitch on my Camry for a bike rack. I called my dealer and was told they neither sell or install hitches. I found a hitch on-line http://www.suspensionconnection.com/...ml?id=RzGi9kZU but would rather buy and have it installed locally.
I wonder if a hitch would affect the warranty at all.

I believe that I remember reading in another post that it does as the towing capacity is 0.

I was told by my dealership that I can't put a hitch on my 09 TCH because there is nowhere to attach it. I took a look under my trunk and it does look different than the regular Camrys.

The following link list three hitches for the TCH. http://www.hitch-web.com/vhitch.asp?...ID=6&VID=34351

Personally I am leaning towards the Reese as most of it is concealed behind the bumper...

If you want a hitch installed locally U-Haul as already mentioned has one available. Also if you look up Hitches in your local Yellow Pages you may find some other local installers. Any of the major hitch makers in the link above usually have links to local retail shops...

Kristi,

Adding a hitch adds weight, 45 pounds in the case of the Reese hitch, you are always lugging around so your gas mileage could go down a little...but I doubt it would be even a single MPG...

Thanks for the thoughts.

I did call my dealer and spoke to the service department - they said no problem putting a hitch on the Camry Hybrid. They also said it would do nothing to the warranty. Of course this is now. I don't intend to actually "tow" with the hitch so I didn't ask about that issue.

Uhaul actually list the Camry Hybrid specifically so the hitch should work just fine. I'd much rather a hitch then scratching up my paint with a trunk rack!

I just did a search on the UHaul site and it showed a hitch available for the 2008 TCH but 0 for the 2007. I'll have to stop by and talk to them personally.

It looks like the Reese actually needs to be drilled into the bottom of the trunk but the other ones use existing holes. If anyone has a hitch installed I'd like to know what model as well as a photo.

Well, I hope to get my hitch at Uhaul in the next 1-2 weeks so I'll let you know and get pictures too!

I tow a 1500lb pop-up camper w/ my TCH. Ok, I am kidding and not retarded. I hope you have good luck with that bike rack hitch. I couldn't do it to mine...but then again, I have an SUV for that kind of stuff so I wouldn't need to.
