Walkerm: Check the connections on the back of the Nav unit, make sure that the pins are installed properly, and check your connections to the camera cable. If this all looks good, you may have a bad camera.

Finally got it working. I used a large paper clip to push the connector pins all the way into the connector. That did it. It's impossible to tell if they are inserted all the way except that the camera will not work. :-(

I really like the description in this tread on how to install backup camera, but has anyone research if the new Prius that has backup camera will feet on our TCH. I like how the camera on the Prius is small. Is Prius has same JBL unit like we have with navigation? If someone has more info on this, or how much is the harness and camera cost from dealer let me know.
Thanks, Tim

What electronics store installed it? I am looking at getting one for my wife's car for X-Mass and this would be a great deal.

I thank you for you detailed description on how to install the camera. I was a bit worried at first as I have the Canadian GPS unit which is the same but does not have the capability to show the energy screen. The only part I had a problem was seating the wires far enough into the connecter to make a proper connection. I used a very small screwdriver to push in the back of connecter after it was plugged in and that did the trick. I was amazed how well things show up at night and the wide angle view is perfect. Well worth the small expense and effort.

I have received back a letter from Toyota about the NON Hybrid GPS unit that was installed. They are basically saying it is the dealers responsibility. So I have forwarded the letter to my dealer to see if they will replace it with the Hybrid GPS, as I was led to believe that is what I was buying. It would be good if everyone in Canada that bought one of these units to write to Toyota. Check this thread it shows the different models. http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forum...-navigation-2/

I believe I will do that. Please let me know what your dealer's response is, as well. Thanks.
