Default Changing Default HVAC Settings

Has anyone had the dealer change the default settings for the climate control system, as outlined on Toyotaiguide?

The default settings frequently override my settings, requiring me to push more buttons than on any manual system.

For example, AC compressor is turned on when Auto is pressed, no matter how cold it is. The AC comes on with the DEF button.

There several other overrides, including airflow changes, which invariably, as you press through the options to get back to your choice, cause the Eco setting to be turned off because of another override.

My dealer didn't seem to know what I was talking about but agreed to an appointment to see what could be done.

The A/C doesn't necessarily come on just because the light is on.
If the A/C light is on then when in Auto mode the A/C can be cycled automatically as needed.
On my XLE-V6 which has a belt driven compressor I can see it definitely is not always running even though the A/C light is on when in Auto mode.
I agree it is confusing.
Initially I fiddled with the settings. Now I am perfectly happy with ECO/Auto all year round. With the possible exception of very cold days I will turn off ECO as the car will then heat up quite a bit faster but I still leave Auto ON.

I had the recirc function changed to manual, and also the headlight shutoff delay changed from 30s to 0s. I just took in a printout of all the customizable parameter settings from the repair guide and just gave it to the dealer with the settings I wanted changed circled. Easy, no explaining needed. I've attached a copy of these settings if you don't have it.

A big thank you, Droid13. I had printed the iguide material, but this is far clearer.
