Default Computer nerds unite! DVD project for 6.1 nav...

I posted an idea in another thread regarding the missing override on the 6.1 version of the Nav DVD (which I am copying below):

Here's a crazy question...

Would it be possible for someone to take the 5.1 and 6.1 DVD's and "combine" them into one "hybrid" DVD?

In other words, could you take the map database from the 6.1 version, and the actual software from the 5.1 version, and burn your own? I know this isn't necessarily easy (since it probably isn't obvious which files are software and which ones are for the map database).

I am also curious - if you own both versions, could you swap them any time you wanted? So if I had to go somewhere that I might need the updated maps, I use 6.1, but for everyday driving (when I know where I am going), I could use the 5.1 version, and still have access to the OVERRIDE function?
I popped the DVD out of my Nav system and popped it into my Mac to see what the file structure looked like. I pasted the results into an excel spreadsheet as attached below.

Does anyone out there have the ability to do the same with the 6.1 DVD? You don't have to use a Mac - I am just not sure how to do this with a PC, and include the subdirectories. I THINK there may be a command that might do this. I would like to compare the files on each disc to see what actually differs. If you have a Mac, this is how I did it:

- Open a terminal window
- Switch to the "Volumes" folder to access the DVD.
cd /Volumes
- Find the name of the DVD (this is a lowercase "LS")
ls
- This will show the mounted drives on your system. The DVD will probably have a numeric name like "464210-0629".
- Switch to the DVD - replace the number string below with the number you found in the previous step.
cd 46210-0629
- If you type "ls" here (without quotes), you should see a simple list of the files and folders on the DVD. To format it better, type the following at the prompt:
ls -lR
(that is LS -LR - all lowercase EXCEPT for the R)
Just copy the output into a plain txt file and post it here (you don't have to put it in a spreadsheet like I did - I just did it so it would format consistently).
It should look something like this:

Mac-Daddy:/Volumes/464210-0629 spiff$ ls -lR

Default Re: Computer nerds unite! DVD project for 6.1 nav...

If we're going to call out the computer geeks, why don't we find someone to build us a hack that will make 6.1 fully functional when moving. My wife is perfectly capable of operating the NAV and telephone screens while I drive.
