Default Cruising Distance ??

How accurate is the cruising distance in the Non-Nav '09 camry. What are peoples experiences? I am showing 1/8 tank and only 33 miles left on the cruising screen.

The cruising range always leaves a good bit of gasoline, you can go well past it. You should really (if you're concerned) calculate the distance you've traveled divided by the fuel economy for the tank (mpg) to figure out how much gas you've used. But you also need to assume the real FE could be as much as 2 mpg lower than it says.

It is very innacurate and isn't worth paying attention to.
Ignore it is the best advice I can give.

I agree with both of the above posts. I actually made a little cheat sheet with the miles and mpg for each 1/4 tank. This way I can see that after 1/4 tank if I've gone X amount of miles which gives me X mpg. Then I can look at the EMPTY section and see approximately how far I should be able to go on that tank if I hold that mpg for the tank. It's a rough estimate because both the Fuel Gauge and MFD are not 100% accurate.

When my gas guage hits "E" I still have 3 gallons or about 100 miles of reserve before I go bone dry. However now I usually refill whenever I see a good price on gas if I'm half full or less. Costco usually has the best price and there are more stores opening every month.

That's basically how my tanks are too. I don't fill up until the warning light comes on, unless I know I have a long drive coming up the next day.

Try driving with the light on and having family members in the car.
If you think the seat belt beeper is annoying, just listen to what the other occupants will say as you drive past a station with the low fuel light on.
Trust me, you wont make it 100 miles...you'll be lucky if you make it 2 miles!

Thanks everyone, I did fill up and the cruise meter ran out, but I know there was still some gas in the tank as the dial was not on 'E' yet.

I've watched the meter....
During the course of a 70 mile highway trip, the range fell by 45 miles, and then it went from 12 miles to go to zero in one second...so it is a totally useless tool.
