Default First time maintenance service

Anyone taken their TCH in for service yet? I'm closing in on 5000 miles and will be taken it in for my first oil change. Man those miles just fly by.

Yup we had ours done last week at 5040 miles. I am going to have to call my dealer because they put a sticker on the winshield that say to bring it in again at 8023 miles which just doesn't make any sense. Oh and they told me originally to bring it in at 3500 miles...which is why the 8023 doesn't make sense to me...if they want it every 3500 miles then why not 8540?

It seems that no matter what the owner's manual says and no matter how much motor oil has improved maintenance places still quote 3000 miles.

As far as 3500 miles go - that person is no longer with the company.

It seems that no matter what the owner's manual says and no matter how much motor oil has improved maintenance places still quote 3000 miles.

And your dentist wants to see you twice a year and your doctor wants to do an annual physical. Halmark wants you to send cards and FTD thinks you should send flowers for every holiday and event.

It seems like everyone who charges you for service wants to get you in as often as possible. Why not make you think you need to do this to protect your valuable investment. Make you wonder if it's needed, put doubt in you head about what you're doing. Fortunately most people (some still do) don't think that they need premium gas if their car calls for regualr. However I see AMOCO still pushing their premium in advertisements for a "cleaner" engine.

If Toyota builds it and says 5000 miles is enough I'm sure they have covered themselves. Personally I think 5000 is probably overkill but it's what they require for warranty work. I would indeed be willing to use Mobile 1 if the warranty was OK for 10,000 to 15,000 oil service frequencies but since Toyota doesn't have stock in Mobil then why should they support it. Mobile 1 or synthetic with a 5000 mile frequency is again, overkill.
