Very interesting that US models have "some of the wiring." The Jap THC sure doesn't.
And drawing that much power from just the low beams might not be safe in the long run.
We'll figure something out.
I believe you only power the relay from the low beams, (the power for the lights themselves comes directy off a hot lead) at least that is what I did to install the factory fogs n my old 03 Highlander..worked like a charm.
And if you do a HID conversion for the low beams, you could actually reduce the power draw on the original circuit. The power for both the HID and the fog lights would then come from a direct power feed off the 12v accessory battery.
I'm hoping the IP harness and juction box/connectors contain all the funtionality for the Fog Lamps. I found the relay location and was able to plug one in. There was already a 15a fuse in the inside fuse block marked FFOG. This weekend I'll pull the steering column cover and see if the XLE stalk connector fits the TCH. If it does and the switch is able to get the ECU to energize the relay the battle is won.
schmidtj — Canadian TCHs do not come fitted with fog lights, nor are they a Toyota option here. Perhaps they were custom installations that you heard about. While I have your attention, please see the question I posed for you on January 22nd in the thread "Disconnecting the 12v Battery." Thanks.
It would be interesting to get a poll on if it is definite that Jap TCH have no wiring vs US TCH's that do. Also, if it is dependent on options. Maybe a Jap TCH with leather and NAV has the wiring vs one that does not. If anyone is willing, let's get a poll.
I sometimes wonder if car companies just don't add things some years, so they can add them other years. Fog lights. . . all other Camry's have them, the Hybrid doesn't. Next year, 08' model . . will probably look the same as the 07. So, to sell the car to the new buyer they need to offer something the previous model doesn't have. IE, fog lights. . Rear-view camera . . HID lights. . . can we think of more things?
I was thinking a little more, and if you add these options you have an ES350! I guess they don't want to overlap the car technology to much, otherwise there would be no incentive to spend more on a name.
Sad to report the wire for the fog lights are not in the E21 connector. I looks like I'll have to tap directly into the new XLE stalk and run the aftermarket harness.
On the bright side, changing out the stalk was easier than I thought and tapping into the fog switch will not be an issue.

Any pictures or diagrams? Please update us as to what you have done so far. Are you using a factory fuse and relay? Good work by the way
