Fuel Economy in Heavy Freeway Traffic

Fuel Economy in Heavy Freeway Traffic
I received my TCH last Monday and just love it.
Got caught in heavy LA stop and go traffic on the way home last night and was pleasantly surprised to see my fuel economy actually increased. The car was warmed up and I did not have the A/C on, but the FE went from 42 mpg up to more than 45 mpg when I got in the heavy traffic. I was able to keep the car in EV mode until the bottleneck cleared and it started to move.

Re: Fuel Economy in Heavy Freeway Traffic
My best tank (45mpg) included one very slow 2 and 1/2 hour commute caused by a previous 3 car wreck on I-15. It also had a 90 minute commute from a roll over on I-15. Both times it was only about a 10 to 15 mile section of freeway that was backed up.
