Arrow Gas mileage EXPERIMENTALISTS wanted:

Howdy,

Are there a few of you who would be interested in undertaking a gas mileage experiment with me? I'd like to find some people who already have a "track record" established with their TCH, but haven't done anything extraordinary to boost their gas mileage.

Then, this is what we would do. Those who want to participate in the experiment would do two things, as a minimum: (1) put in synthetic oil, and (2) inflate their tires to 40+ PSI (mine are at 45).

Then, in a short time, we would have some controlled mileage numbers in our database to compare what these simple changes could produce.

I'm doing it anyway, anyone else wanna 'officially' join the experiment?

.

This is a bad time of year to start your EXPERIMENT. MPG goes down in the cold. You could run a year long test to balance the effect of the seasons..........

Sorry, It's pouring the rain here right now. Life's too short already for me to want to drive around on a set of rocks on slick roads.

FWIW, this last oil change I wanted to see what all the hubbub is about regarding mobil1 0-20w. I previously used Castol 5-20w dino oil.

I see no difference in mpg or anything else other than my wallet being a lil thinner.

I will go back to the 5-20w next oil change. I live in Florida and I doubt the I need oil that gets down to the 0w for winter starts.

As for the tire inflation, I have tried pumping mine up to 40+ and then reducing them back to the car specs on the door. To make a long story short, there is an improvement but only when increasing the psi about 4lbs over mfg suggestions. After that, there was no noticable benefit during my testing other than harsh ride.

I am sure all cars and results may be different, the above were mine, hope the info helps some. I know it helped me decide whats best for my vehicle.
