I have noticed this as well. It's only visible when the sun is low and hits the windshield at an extreme angle. I haven't determined whether it results from very tiny pits in the glass or whether it's something on the surface.

I have to have my stereo off to hear the noise. I'm wondering whether your noise is something different, if you're more sensitive to it or if you need to play your music louder.
