Default Great Gag

My TCH has the factory installed remote start.

I impress kids (and some adults) by pretending to start the car with verbal command. The factory remote start takes around 5 seconds to spool up after pushing the remote, which give me plenty of time to get my hands out of my pockets. So I push the buttons on the remote in my pocket, then take my hands out of my pocket and cup them around my face, and in a dramatic clearing of my voice say, "Toyota Camry start your engine!".

With proper timing the car will then immediately rev up.

I'm curious as to what installation you had completed for remote start? What keys are you pressing on your remote (fob) to get it started.

Also, when it starts, isn't it silent? My actualy engine doesn't kick in for a while, and sometimes not at all if it's not a cold start.

P.S. Do you also make balloon animals?

My remote start was a factory option (option V4 sticker price $529).

According to the instructions you press the lock button twice within 2 seconds, then press and hold 3 seconds.

During this process the lights will blink and the dash will light up and the car will spool up and start usually within approximately 10 seconds.

Because the car is cold and in a garage it is very noticeable when the ICE starts, even though it is a very quite motor.

Frankly, this is an option I would never pay for. It is useful only when you need to warm your car up on very cold days after it has been sitting outside for a long time. And once you open a car door the engine stops for safety purposes, so you have to re-start the car once you have entered the vehicle.

But, my dealer only had one TCH on the lot, and it had all the options, and they were willing to give me a nice discount, so like an idiot I took the bait.

I think Toyota is packaging all these extras in the vehicles to raise the price and profit, since demand still apparently exceeds the limited supply.

Toyota is scheduled to start building TCH's at a Suburu plant in Lafayette, Indiana.

I don't see this listed as an option on the website; just aftermarket kits but none state compatability with a Hybrid.

Do you do something different than the instructions?

The remote start is a new thing with Toyota on hte "push button" HYBRIDs. Our PRIUS could NOT get that option back in Feb of 06. But, now it can be installed (from what the dealer told me).

It was just a matter of time before Toyota figured out how to do it.
