I voted 0. I didn't even realize that insurance discount was ever even an option, and I don't understand why it matters.

Can someone please explain why we deserve a discount because we have a hybrid?

I get none through nationwide, but I believe Farmer's and Traveller's both offer discounts for Hybrid drivers.

The logic is that Hybrid drivers are "safer" drivers based on the fact that A) the average Hybrid owner is typically older, and B) the Hybrid owner is more likely to be concerned with fuel economy and drives more conservatively (read: slowly).

Ditto your thoughts.

I don't think I got a Hybrid discount, but the rover was a mid 20's points vehicle, and the Hybrid is a mid teens points vehicle. That saved us a bunch of money in itself. Both were driven at the same speeds, but for different reasons. The rover hurt to drive it fast, the TCH hurts the FE to drive fast. I guess it was for the same reason, to keep the hurt down.

The TCH cost about $56 more to insure than a comparably equipped '07 LE-V6 when I got a quote from AAA in September. Obviously that wasn't a deal-breaker for me. But I was a bit worried when I had read "reports" that carriers were tacking on large premiums for hybrids. No discounts for CA State PZEV (or AT-PZEV) certified vehicles from AAA! [Darn... because both this Camry and my Mazda 6i are PZEVs!] Yes, ins. carriers usually use real-world data statistics/loss rates, crash worthiness ratings and component/parts costs when determining prices. Your driving record also plays a substantial part.

2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid base Jasper Pearl -- I cannot seem to get that Average Mileage log to display here: 35.9 MPG as of 4/2008
