Default Hybrid Mileage DB - No change in TCH mpg avg since Dec?

Can anyone explain this?

Per the GH mileage database, the combined averages for our THC's in June & December were:
  • June '06 --> median: 37.0, mean: 37.3, middle 50%: 35.8–38.9
  • Dec '06 --> median: 37.0, mean: 37.1, middle 50%: 35.3–39.2
(see http://www.greenhybrid.com/discuss/s...345#post101345)

Right about that time, many complained that the winter months were upon us and would significantly hurt our FE.... but it's now close to March, and the db averages are now:
  • median: 37.0, mean: 37.1, middle 50%: 35.3–39.2
Uhhhh... absolutely no change since Dec? Either not enough owners are posting their tanks anymore, or it's just plain broken. I refuse to believe that the figures haven't changed since the winter began!

I noted the same thing:

But action is slow in coming.

Oops, my bad... I somehow never came across your [recent!] thread -- or it was already marked as "read" on my list, dunno how. I usually groan (to myself) whenever I see a question being posed on this forum for which one or more extended posts are already out there, and now it happens to me.

Let's give Jason some time, I'm sure he's got several other priorities right now (incl. completing his degree at Rice, I imagine). I'm just glad this site exists at all; the members seem overall quite more "personable" than on other TCH forums I've perused these past 9 months.

For the fun of it I did a cut and paste of the Camry page into a spreadsheet.

The total on the web page shows 217 cars but there are 314 cars displayed.
Just taking an average on the mpg column shows that the current average is 36.33.
Doing a slightly more weighted average sum(mpg * miles)/total camry miles shows that the average is 36.80

Hopefully Jason will figure out what is wrong.

I just figured people weren't updating their numbers because they were so bad.

Since he sold this site I think his interest is way way down and the current owners do nothing to maintain it. Besides he is in college and no longer devotes time here.

Interesting...didn't know this. I wonder if the owner(s) post here?

I'm not sure if I am misunderstanding the previous couple of posts regarding the new owner of this site, but the press release says the new owner (carsdirect.com) took over as of Jan 2006, so it has been over a year. I think the comments about the data base not changing is in reference to Dec 2006, just 4 months ago.

I know, I am confused, but not too confused to see and buy the greatness of the TCH!

Can anyone clear up my confusion?

Jason was acting as consultant after the sale. But problems have cropped up and they are not being fixed. I suspect that his involvement now is minimal and carsdirect.com just doesn't care about this site.

I think its working, people just may not be entering the info. It updates when you enter the info at least a couple weeks ago it worked for me.
